The Advantage System™ is a systematic process developed by Advantage Masonry™ in Dallas, Texas, specifically designed for effective brickwork restoration. This innovative system expertly blends both the color and texture of repaired mortar joint cracking with the existing masonry siding during tuck pointing. As OKC's only authorized installer of this proprietary system, renovated areas seamlessly integrate with the original brickwork, making it virtually impossible to identify repairs. Our mortar joint repair technique ensures lasting results by completely removing cracked mortar joints and replacing them with new mortar, rather than simply filling existing cracks, which only masks the issue. This meticulous approach includes a special blending of the new mortar’s color and texture to match what is already present—not the stark white or gray mortar that highlights repairs and diminishes your home’s curb appeal. The hallmark of The Advantage System™ is using mortar colored with mortar dye—finely ground, concentrated mineral and chemical pigments, most commonly natural and synthetic iron oxides—to repair cracks, instead of relying on colored caulk, mortar repair sealants, acrylic/latex, polyurethane, synthetic mixtures with mortar or other products that alter porosity and moisture exchange. The entire purpose of brick and mortar is to protect your home while managing moisture through vapor permeability and drainage. Breathable mortar and brick allow trapped moisture vapor inside the wall to evaporate outward rather than being trapped inside the wall. Why is this important?

• Prevents Freeze-Thaw Destruction: When trapped water cannot escape, it turns to ice during freezing temperatures, expands, and exerts massive internal pressure that cracks, flakes, or shatters the brick and stone—a process known as spalling.
• Relieves Structural Stress: Breathable systems (using softer, vapor-permeable lime mortars) act as natural buffers that safely handle temperature shifts and moisture movement without transferring destructive stress directly into rigid bricks.
• Stops Dampness and Interior Decay: Trapped moisture that cannot escape outward will migrate or accumulate, leading to unsightly efflorescence (powdery salt deposits), peeling exterior paint, rotting interior timber framing, and indoor mold growth.
• Avoids the "Moisture Trap": Modern non-breathable sealants, waterproof paints, or hard Portland cement applied over historic or permeable brick create a vapor barrier that locks water inside the wall assembly, accelerating decay rather than stopping it.

We also store a record in our computer system of your project's final satisfactory blended and dyed mortar color, so if future repairs or projects are needed, we can recreate the exact formula, making minor adjustments as needed to account for additional weathering over time.
